How Typeshift works
How do I play Typeshift?
Each puzzle has five vertical letter columns. The highlighted middle row is the "active" row. Tap the up or down arrow on each column to rotate its letters. When the active row spells one of the puzzle's target words, that word is discovered. Find all five target words to win.
Is there a guess limit?
No. You can shift columns as many times as you want; we count your total shifts and include the count in your share string so you can compare scores with friends.
How are the puzzles generated?
Each daily puzzle is built from five common English five-letter words. The letters at each index are stacked into a column and rotated, so the puzzle has a guaranteed solution but isn't trivially obvious.
When does the puzzle reset?
Every day at 00:00 UTC. Your browser holds today's puzzle state until the next UTC midnight.
